UTS offers high speed modulator and demodulator IPs for FPGA based software defined radios. Our area and speed optimized IPs, enable developing high data rate communication links with battery powered devices. These IPs are verified for symbol rates upto 10 Mega symbols/sec on Virtex-6 (and above) devices, while operating at 120 MHz clock. An IP core for complete SDR solution with support of all PSK and QAM variants are also available.

The signal interception (SI) IP offered from UTS, is designed for meeting the signal interception requirements of modern communication signals. The present day communication signals are capable of fast hopping and designed to operate at  low SNR rates. The SI core is FPGA based signal processing IP with highly area and speed optimized modules to detect LPI signals and also to dynamically measure the parameters. The Core embedded with noise estimation algorithm, which is capable of estimating the noise as function of frequency and hence detect signals which are slightly above local noise level. The measurable parameters include signal appearing start time, end time, bandwidth, centre frequency.

The noise and fading models with low FPGA foot print are very useful for initial stage of testing algorithms in FPGAs, using on chip debugging tools. The UTS IP for emulating the Rayleigh and Rician  fading models along with Gaussian noise conditions are useful for onchip verification of algorithms used in communication systems.

The direction finding and localization applications need highly computational intensive cross correlations and hyperbolic equation solvers. The UTS IP for TDOA based direction finding and location fixing core can be directly embedded in FPGAs. The core is optimized for communication signals and very useful for building intelligent jammers or beamformers.  The processor variant of this core is also available.

Cognitive Radio technology is the key for building next generation communication links for military applications. The compressive sensing techniques allow to build high speed spectrum sensing module for wide band cognitive radio applications. UTS IP core is fast compressive sensing core for wide band spectrum sensing application. Currently this core is only available on processor platform.

UTS offers adaptive filters based on LMS and RLS algorithms, which are suitable for wide category of applications. These optimized IP cores allow realizing different type of adaptive algorithms on FPGAs with suitable adaptation logic added. The Constant Modulus Algorithm based equalizer directly fits for channel equalization applications.

Sample rate converters (SRC) are critical blocks for modern communication system development. UTS has all categories of SRC IPs for FPGA based SDR implementation. The integer fixed rate converter type interpolators and decimator IPs are available both in polyphase and CIC variants. Designer can select based on the required specification and affordable FPGA resources. The Fractional rate converters allow run time sampling rate switching with in single clock cycle among a wide range of values.
